2007 Scholarship winner names

It is with pleasure that we would like to announce the recipients of the 2007 conference scholarship awards.  It was agreed by the CMC membership at the annual general meeting in May, to give scholarships totalling $8,000 for the fourth year running! 

The entire profit raised at the conference is directed towards the CMC scholarship fund.  This scholarship is presented to qualified applicants who are relatives of employees of CMC member companies.  We know that with the increasing financial demands placed on young people in their pursuit of academic excellence; this award is truly appreciated by the recipients.

This year we received twenty four applications.  Candidates are assessed by grading their academic excellence, financial need, community service and extracurricular activities.  As always it was a very difficult task to choose a successful candidate due the very high standard all these young people have set for themselves in their academic and extra curricular lives.  This year we were able to share the total award between six very worthy recipients as follows: 

1. Kelly Christie, attending Douglas College and studying Psychiatric Nursing
2. Carlee-Ann Clingwall,  attending York University and majoring in Sociology
3. Anna Slater, attending Camosun College and majoring in environmental studies
4. Yuliya Talmazan, attending University of British Columbia majoring in Microbiology and Immunology
5. Mark Walsh, attending University of Victoria and majoring in Honours Political Science
6. Mallory White, attending University of British Columbia majoring in Kinesiology and Health Science
